Work: The Pacific Students Media (PSM) is a digital storytelling initiative that Vid Raatior founded as part of his work as Director of the Pacific Islander Student Center (PISC) at UH Hilo. The main objective of the team is to combat misinformation and stereotypes about Pacific Islanders in Hawaii by producing the real stories of our people through videos, print, and website. Instead of waiting for the mainstream media to focus on the negative stories that sell viewership, the PSM team identifies, produces, and disseminates digital and print stories. The project entailed designing an easy, user-friendly, simple website that explains the mission of the team, but also incorporate the main categories of their stories.

The Pacific Students Media (PSM) is a student-run digital storytelling project of the Pacific Islander Student Center aimed at combating misinformation and stereotypes about Pacific Islanders in Hawaii by telling the real stories of our people through videos, print, and website. Our motto, “Uniting Our Voices, Sharing Our Stories!” speaks to the goal of bringing together the uniqueness of our various Pacific Islander languages, cultures, traditions into one united voice.
